A baptism of a great child.Seen by a photographer. At saint John the Theologian.
Photographing family events for many years, I had the privilege to meet a lot of people.
Parents, grandparents, godparents, siblings , close family and other dear guests.
Being a photographer in the entire meanng of the word, I have some ethics and work values to achieve my greatness :)).
First off, I REALLY love what I do and the fact that I contribute to the history of each family I get in contact with, the best way I can, makes me feel like an immortal. By documenting with photography in my most genuine and sincere way.I want o see the family dynamics, the good in each person and situation, and capture each person’s character in stunning images. So to do my job well, I have to change many hats. I am a photographer, a body language reader, a psychologist, a buffer, a negotiator, a clown, and a professional among others.
There’s many things I think of when doing such events, I want to be there with all my being and make sure I do my job irreproachably.
One of the hardest things is to make sure you give importance to all the guests and make everyone feel comfortable around you.
There’s always dynamics between each larger family and it’s interesting to notice all of that and capture it in a subtle way.And believe me there’s many colors.
One Saturday afternoon, in June of this year, I got the chance to meet a great little baby boy. His name was Aidan. AKA Adamandios, or the diamond boy.
He reminded me very much of my own son, Patrick. Always a smile, quiet and inquisitive. Always wondering about all the little things surrounding him. Auntie’s necklace, grandpa’s ring, or mom’s beautiful dress. The orthodox byzantine style paintings of Saint John the Theologian in Tenafly, was all eye candy for him.The most unique and magical painted Icons and painted windows were so attractive for him.
Shooting this family affair was exciting and as always, different. Even though I had already done another event for the same family about a good year before.
Parents always excited and energized by the myriads of things happening over the day. Happy to see all the close family and friends that they haven’t seen for a while, they had a great time with siblings, parents and work colleagues.
