Christening of Charlene Marie at Alpine Community Church, NJ
Going back in time. That’s the feeling I had when I stepped into this church.I have visited this place a couple of times before. But now I really had the time to “see it” .I think the photos that followed were a result of that. The light came through the small windows, reminded me that a while ago, even the churches were not only a spiritual shelter, but a physical refugee in times of struggle.That feeling safe is a state of mind more than anything. The light coming through those windows inspired me to take beautiful photos the entire time. I refrained from using flash or artificial lighting as much as I could. It wasn’t needed . Some very dramatic photos came to life as you can see.
Baby Charlene, proved to be a great “subject”. Her candor and innocence were the reasons for all of us being there. I loved photographing her, her older sister Sophia and Adrian the brother. Parents and grandparents brought their enthusiasm and good vibe along. The godparents were very photogenic and really took their job as spiritual parents. Little Charlene was very comfortable around both of them.
Silently roaming around, I took notice of all the beauty this place had to offer. The guests, I want to believe they stepped in the same journey as I did, and listened to the sound of celebrating the miracle of life if only for a brief time.
